There are many ways to get involved with CUCC! Find something that peaks your interest and try one of the many small groups found at this link. Additionally, the CUCC Council is another way to serve. Our governance is “congregational,” which means that the members own the church and make all major decisions about money, mission, and staffing. The “business” of CUCC is done through a committee structure. Each committee sends a representative to serve on the church governing board — the Council. Council members meet every two months and serve three-year terms.
Committees:
Trustees
The Trustees’ primary responsibility is to manage the facility upkeep. From lawn maintenance to construction projects, the Trustees see that our building and grounds are well-kept and inviting.
Christian Education
The Christian Education Committee oversees the religious teaching components of our community church life. Programs are offered for preschoolers through seasoned adults. Often, Christian Education Committee members are also our church school teachers.
Calling & Caring
The Calling & Caring Committee is responsible for assisting the minister in caring for and calling on church parishioners and visitors. The committee meets regularly with the minister to review needs, receive updated information and receive specialized training to enhance visitation skills.
Deacons
The Deacons have several responsibilities. They maintain the liturgical elements of communion, greet worshipers on Sunday morning, and coordinate liturgists and social hour hosts. They have leadership roles in the Strawberry Festival and the Thanksgiving Soup lunch.
Mission and Outreach
This committee supervises the community, global, and inner church outreach projects. They keep the congregation informed of areas where our services are needed. The Mission and Outreach Committee educates the congregation on current justice and peace-related issues.
Financial Management
Those with financial expertise come together to manage the fiscal stewardship of our church. They create and maintain budgets, manage building campaigns, watch investments, and keep tabs on economics.
